Scared To Be In Your Home At Night? 2 Things You Should Consider To Make You Feel Safer

Blog

If you often feel scared during the night in your home, you can make your home more secure to help you feel better. Below are two ways you can do this, so you will sleep much better at night knowing you and your family are safe.

Security System

The best thing you can do is to contact a security company to have security system installed in your home. There are many different types of security systems you can choose from, including:

Monitored

A monitored security system will alert the security company if an alarm is triggered, who will then contact the police. A monitored system is connected to your home's phone line, however, and a perpetrator can find these lines, and cut them before they break in. If this happens, the security company would never be notified that someone was breaking into your home.  To take care of this problem, you can use a radio or a smartphone as an alternative to a phone line.

Unmonitored

An unmonitored security system does not alert the security company when someone breaks in. Instead, it sounds a very loud alarm inside and outside your home when someone breaks in. This type of system saves money, as you will not have to pay a security system's monitoring fees. You also have the choice to have lights flashing when the alarm goes off. The alarm is loud enough that it deters anyone trying to break in, as they assume police are on the way.

Wireless Alarm System

This is the least expensive security system, as you can purchase it at most hardware or home supply stores. It is easy to install, and you pay no monitoring fees. It also allows you to choose from different settings and to use devices such as motion detectors, beams, cameras, and/or sensors.  Follow the instructions for the wireless alarm system that you purchase to set all of this up.

Keyless Door Locks

For added protection, install keyless door locks on all exterior doors to your home. Because there are no locks, the intruder has nothing to pick. Instead of a lock, you will have a digital keypad, which you will program yourself. You can choose a combination of any numbers, and easily change them when you want to.  The only drawback to keyless door locks is you always have to remember the code. If you have children that are old enough to leave the house on their own, they should be sure they have memorized this number. These locks are generally easy to install, and they are weatherproof. Follow the instructions that come with it, and you will have your doors secure in no time.

These are just two of the many ways you can make your home more secure. Talk with the security company you hire about other things you can do. Contact a business, such as Amped Security, for more information.
